SUSTAINABILITY

Zarcam issued a new Sustainability report. It is a public presentation of the Company’s last year economic, social and environmental balance sheet.
To create it, globally known methodologies were used: the G4 Guide for Creating Sustainability Reports issued by Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The report includes information such as company’s culture, performance and significant changes, staff, relationship with the society, environmental performance and safety as a priority.

It is Zarcam’s priority the preservation and protection of the Environment. It has the strong conviction that each and every member of the Company must commit themselves to observing the applicable legislation and standards in all the areas in which activities are carried out.

Tires that Are No Longer Used  Taking into account the activities carried out by Zarcam, the Company incorporated to its processes the management of tires that are no longer used for safety reasons. Zarcam stores them in a dedicated area and then they are taken to a company authorized to recycle them.

Battery Management Sustainable management consists in temporarily storing the batteries (from trucks and UPS) and then taking them to a company authorized to reuse part of its components and to dispose of the rest accordingly.

Waste Management  Correct management of the waste generated is part of the environment commitment made by the Company. The specific procedure requires proper segregation at the place the waste is generated. Wastes are segregated as common or urban solid wastes, and as Special Wastes.

At the beginning of 2013, in order to improve environmental performance we took a major step to quantify the greenhouse-effect gases generated by our company and by doing so we have determined Zarcam’s carbon footprint. We have developed a Carbon Footprint Reduction Plan which is being implemented. We perform this study on an annual basis for the logistics services provided, which in turn are divided into Transport and Storage.
